Napa I: Wine Tasting

A few highlights from Yountville, Napa, CA. The food at Redd was phenomenal, especially the lobster risotto (Carnaroli risotto, maine lobster, meyer lemon confit, truffle oil), John Dory (John dory, coconut jasmine rice, clams, chorizo, saffron curry nage), and the scallops (Caramelized diver scallops, cauliflower purée, almonds, balsamic reduction). Next time, I want to try the shortribs. Also, twice at the end of our dinner, the waiter brought out a little plate of dessert, including soft chocolate covered in white powdered sugar, and a toffee-chocolate-layered treat that was soft and delicious. Earlier in the day, we got a blueberry yogurt macaron from Bouchon Bakery, also in Yountville, and enjoyed it with a few glasses of bubbly at Chandon. Different waiters poured different amounts of brut – the pink Rosé was our favorite. Our favorite wine tasting experience was at Pine Ridge. We tried their current releases. Their Chardonnay is worth trying and the 2007 Onyx was a deep flavored red wine which left an impression.
